MLB Streaming Options Expand for Fans

Major League Baseball (MLB) is making significant changes to its streaming options, allowing fans to watch in-market games of 20 teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, and San Diego Padres. This move is a response to the rapidly evolving television landscape.

The Angels have announced their partnership with the league to make their games more widely available through the option called ‘Angels.TV.’ This will allow fans to purchase the full season for $99.99 or a monthly subscription for $19.99 through the MLB app.

Expanded Streaming Options for Other Teams

In addition to the Angels, the league has announced that in-market games for 15 other teams will be available through the MLB app. These teams include the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Guardians, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays, and Washington Nationals.

The traditional pay-TV subscribers will still have access to these games, but the new streaming options provide more flexibility for fans to watch their favorite teams.

ESPN Becomes the New Streaming Home for MLB.TV

In a separate announcement, ESPN has revealed that it will become the new streaming home for MLB.TV, bringing out-of-market live games to the ESPN App and ESPN.com. This move is seen as a significant step forward in reinforcing ESPN as the home of the MLB regular season and deepening the value proposition of the ESPN Unlimited plan.

The shift to streaming options comes as traditional regional sports networks struggle amid the exodus of pay-TV customers. This has prompted the MLB to step in and take over the television production of games for 14 teams, including the Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Changing Landscape of Sports Media Rights

The changes in MLB’s streaming options are part of a broader shift in the sports media rights landscape. In November 2025, ESPN, Netflix, and NBC signed a new media rights deal with Major League Baseball, further indicating the growing importance of streaming platforms in the industry.

As the channel lineup for watching baseball on TV continues to evolve, fans will need to adapt to the changing landscape. The introduction of new streaming options, such as the MLB app and ESPN’s offerings, provides more flexibility for fans to access their favorite teams’ games.
